Again, I don’t remember how Golden Globes work. So if Disney or Mario end up winning, I think most people won’t be able to take it seriously. Mario… requires a lot of setup to get the in jokes and Easter eggs, but is also bright and colourful for kids and puny judges’ minds. Definitely best comic hero movie this year though. Spider-Verse has a lot of setup to get on top of, and while other spider-verse stuff isn’t important to understanding it really, the first film is needed, and also unfamiliarity with Spider-man/comics might put judges/viewers off. I forget how the Golden Globes work? Are they judged or voted on? As I remember hearing about how the judges for one award were simply not watching the animated nominees and going for Disney entries just because.ĭoor Anime and probably The Boy and the Heron might go over judges/viewers heads? (Again, not seen tBatH yet?). Super Mario, well it was fun and one of the better Video Game movies, but not exactly groundbreaking. Door Anime was very good apart from the romance felt flat (should have stuck to the original plan maybe). Across the Spider-verse was spectacular and had me on the edge of my seat. Let’s see… not seen the Boy and the Heron for the above reason, so can’t comment on it, not seen Elemental or Wish, but either didn’t hear much about them, or not much good about them.
